Established in September 2013 by Founder Mark Tozer, Dive for Cancer has created a unique identity for itself, pioneering a new and exciting way to draw financial aid for cancer research in Australia
This year’s event will be held on Sunday, March 26th, along the Port Noarlunga Reef. Located off the coast of South Australia, this unique temperate reef system is an ideal spot for snorkelers and scuba divers alike. Home to over 200 species of marine plants and animals, and more than 50 species of fish, it is an ideal place to observe the wonders of the underwater world. It is also a popular spot for scuba diving training and each summer more than 1,000 divers come to explore the reef.
The Dive for Cancer event will include prize giveaways, silent and live auctions, guest speakers, lunch at the Port Noarlunga Life Saving Club, and all donations going to the Cancer Council South Australia. Oceanpro has donated a top of the range Osprey F400 Regulator (with occy, pressure gauge and regulator bag) as an auction prize. There are lots of other great prizes up for grabs too.
Guest Speakers
Alby Mangels, is an Australian adventurer and documentary film-maker widely remembered for his World Safari adventure travel films World Safari, World Safari II, and World Safari III. Alby showed us a world of freedom, courage and excitement. Come and hear about his adventures.
Other speakers on the day will be Rodney Fox and a guest from the Cancer Council. The Scuba Divers Federation of SA will be awarding Life Membership to one of Adelaide’s most respected divers who has contributed significantly to the dive industry for well over 40 years.
The first Dive for Cancer Day was an instant hit with participation beyond expectations. It has been hosted with an increasing success rate and at various regions and cities across the country.
Cost of registering to dive is $70.00 which includes lunch at the Port Noarlunga Life Saving Club, with donations going to the Cancer Council South Australia.
